The Next Meetings of The VGMS
will be
a General Meeting on March 24, 2010, at 7:30 pm and a Board Meeting on April 1, 2010, at 7:00 pm. The locations are the usual ones. Remember that, until further notice, the usual location for the Board Meeting is the Brace-Thompson's, 7319 Eisenhower Street, Ventura, CA. I know this is mentioned below but you can't be too careful these days! See below for a map of the General Meeting location.
Unless otherwise notified the Board Meetings are held at the home of the Brace-Thompson's, 7319 Eisenhower Street, Ventura, CA, and the General Meetings are held at the Senior Recreation Center, 420 East Santa Clara Street, Ventura, CA.
Everyone is invited to attend any of our General Meetings.

The location is on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The Next Workshops of The VGMS
will be
March 20, 2010 and April 17, 2010.
These Workshops are held on the third Saturday of the month from 9 am until Noon. The location is 11969 Creek Road, Ojai, CA. It's across the street from Camp Comfort. (See directions below.)
Directions to the Museum/Workshop Site:
From Ventura travel north on Highway 33 for about 4 miles past our old facility and turn right onto Creek Road. Another 4 miles on Creek Road and you come upon Camp Comfort. Our facility is a group of structures on the left (across from the camp) with a large parking area.
CAUTION: The speed of traffic past the clubhouse on Creek Road exceeds the limit for the area. We prefer and advise people to enter and exit the driveway at the point farthest from the clubhouse so it allows the drivers maximum view of approaching traffic as you move onto Creek Road. Your safety is of utmost importance.
Greg Davis.

- The California Oil Museum, perhaps better known as the Santa Paula Oil Museum, is the original headquarters of the Union Oil Company. The offices are still open for touring. The first floor is a museum containing "videos, working models, games, displays, and an authentic turn-of-the-century cable-tool drilling rig". That's from their web site. Fossils are included.
- The Worldwide Museum of Natural History which includes fossils, gems and minerals.
- A collection of pictures from the Smithsonian. Be patient. A lot of small images take a while to load but it's worth the wait. Click on the small images or the links to see larger images.
