VGMS Archives Explanation.

Some of us believe that a lot of the information in the VGMS Rockhound Rambling Bulletins is worth saving for future reference. Therefore, I have begun an ongoing project to archive all of the Bulletins which have appeared on the VGMS web site. It will be limited to those bulletins since those are the only ones I have on the computer. The August 1996 issue was the first, so I started with that one and will continue in chronological order for long as I am (or someone is) able to be here and do the job.

Each individual bulletin will remain on the web site for a minimum of one year. However, once I / we get up to date, the archiving process will be done as soon as possible after each bulletin is posted to the web site. That way the archive, where information will be more easy to find, will be as current as possible. Never fear, all of these bulletins will still be available upon request by contacting the Webmaster using the VGMS e-mail address on our contact page. (Close the new window to return here.)

I have made a list of subjects that I think are appropriate to archive (any suggestions would be appreciated) and the information in the archive itself is separated into those subjects. Subjects may be added, removed or combined as I go along. Within each subject the information is in chronological order by the bulletin in which it appeared. The reason for using the Bulletin date is that some of the articles have no date so, to remain somewhat organized and to maintain what's left of my sanity, I am using only the date of the Bulletin even though there is a date in some of the articles. We had two articles which were not in a Bulletin and which have no date in them. These are listed under August 1996 since I believe they have been around for most of that time. Incidentally, some of the articles require no date anyway.

Each link in the "VGMS Archive Listing" section below is one of the subjects and will take you to an index for that particular subject. I have included a separate search just for the archive.

Your patience will be appreciated. It is going to take quite some time to get up to date with the current bulletin and progress will be intermittent due to other commitments. - The Webmaster.

Archive Search.

Use the form below to search through the VGMS Archives following these steps:

  1. Click on the box labeled 'Text to Search For:', delete what is there and type the text you wish to find.
  2. Select your 'Boolean:' choice. 'AND' means all the words which you type have to be in the document. 'OR' means at least one of the words is in the document. Click on the down arrow to change your selection.
  3. Select your 'Case:' choice. 'Insensitive' means it makes no difference whether or not letters are capitalized. 'Sensitive' means the words in the document have to match your capitalization exactly. Click on the down arrow to change your selection.
  4. Click on the 'Start The Search' button to - you guessed it - start the search.
  5. Wait for the results. These will be presented in the form of links which you can click on to see the document(s) which the search found. If there are no links presented your text was not found. In this case you may wish to select different words or different logic (Boolean and/or Case) and try again. If you wish to clear and reset the form before starting over click on the - all together now - 'Clear The Form' button.
